Cops probe Bersatu Youth info chief, Syed Saddiq's aide over MACC claims

Malaysiakini

Police are probing Bersatu youth information chief Ulya Aqamah Husamuddin over his Facebook post which allegedly defamed the MACC.
Bukit Aman Crime Investigation Department director Huzir Mohamed (photo) said police have started the investigation after the MACC filed a police report on the matter.
"We received reports from MACC against the Bersatu Youth member and we are in the midst of investigating," he said.
Ulya, in his Facebook posting, had claimed that the graft busters' probe into Bersatu exco members was meant to silence members who previously questioned the party's top leadership.
“Bersatu Youth hopes the MACC will conduct a fair and transparent investigation on its leaders without any bias.
“Bersatu Youth believes that the arrest is a form of pressure aimed at silencing members who previously spoke up and held different views from the party’s top leaders,” he said.
Yesterday, MACC questioned Ulya in connection with its probe into missing cash from Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman's home.
In another matter, Huzir said police have also launched an investigation against Syed Saddiq's aide Siti Nurul Hidayah Shaziman after the MACC filed a report against her over the allegation that its officers had intimidated her.
She had made the claim in a video posted on a local portal.
Siti Nurul is one of the witnesses to the same investigation.
Huzir said both investigations are being conducted by the Classified Criminal Investigations Department.
Separately, the police have completed an investigation on former water, land and natural resources minister Dr Xavier Jayakumar (above).
Huzir said the investigation paper has been submitted to the deputy public prosecutor.
Last month, Jayakumar was investigated over a video clip where he is heard saying that the recent Dewan Rakyat sitting would be "worthless" and "rubbish".
A total of 33 police reports have been lodged against the Kuala Langat MP for the alleged comment.
He was probed under the Sedition Act. - Mkini
