CORONAVIRUS | Congregational and Friday prayers will only be allowed for Malaysians, said Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said this when asked whether the leeway for the prayers would involve foreigners.
"When we made the announcement yesterday, it did not involve foreigners.
"For congregational and Friday prayers, only locals are allowed," Ismail said in his daily media conference in Putrajaya today.
He cited the high number of Covid-19 cases among foreigners as the reason for the exclusion, as well as putting the locals as the priority for the leeway.
Yesterday, there was a meeting on the standard operating procedures for mosques in the federal territories, which is pending consent from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
