'Four-to-a-car from same house' rule still applies in recovery MCO

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | The government regulation limiting four people to a car from the same household is still in effect during the recovery movement control order (MCO) period.
Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this to a question during his daily press briefing in Putrajaya today when asked if this rule would be relaxed alongside the easing of other lockdown regulations.
“In terms of cars, four people or more, depending on vehicle capacity, from the same household is still being maintained. Any changes to the standard operation procedure (SOP) will be announced at a later date,” he said.
To another question, Ismail Sabri (above) added that military personnel will continue to assist police in enforcing SOPs and regulations during the recovery MCO period which begins today.
He said the armed forces still made up part of the task force set up with the police to conduct inspections and other operations.
In line with the start of the recovery MCO, the senior minister also said police have removed all roadblocks at highways and major roads as the interstate travel ban has been lifted.
“Police have withdrawn all roadblocks except those at 'rat trails' (lorong tikus) used by undocumented migrants.
“Traffic flow at highways and major roads across the country is still smooth [...] but police are expecting the volume of vehicles to increase from Friday to Sunday (June 12 to 14) as many would choose to return to their hometowns to meet with families during the Syawal month,” he said.
The recovery MCO is currently slated to end on Aug 31. - Mkini
