Gov't removes maximum price for RON95 and diesel?

Malaysiakini

The government appears to have removed a clause for the ceiling price for RON95 and diesel from a price control order.
gazette published on June 3 no longer contains a clause setting the maximum price for petrol and diesel.
The gazette was approved by Domestic Trade and Consumer Affair Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi on April 10.
The last gazette published on Feb 21, still contained a clause for a maximum price.
The gazettes had previously been updated every week up until Feb 21.
The Pakatan Harapan government, which capped RON95 and diesel prices at RM2.08 and RM2,18 respectively, was toppled on Feb 24.
Malaysiakini has contacted the Finance Ministry and the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry for comment.
Fuel prices had fallen significantly since February due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
De facto Economy Minister Mustapa Mohamad said the government loses RM300 million for every US$1 drop in oil per barrel prices.
At present, pump prices for RON95 and diesel are RM1.48 and RM1.63 respectively. - Mkini
