The office of Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin has denied social media allegations that it had appointed an Umno Youth leader as a special officer.
"The minister's office will not hesitate to take legal action against anyone who stubbornly continues to spread this fake news," said a statement by Hamzah's political secretary Sayed Amir Muzzakkir Al Sayed Mohamad.
The statement does not mention names but comes after social media was rife with allegations that Umno Youth exco Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris (above) had been appointed to the post.
Wan Muhammad Azri, better known as Papagomo, had neither denied nor confirmed this when responding to social media comments on the matter.
Searches on the Home Ministry's website earlier this week also did not turn up the Umno Youth leader in the directory.
Condemning the fake news of the appointment, Sayed Amir Muzzakkir (above) said the Home Ministry will focus on serving the people, especially in handling the Covid-19 crisis.
