Ismail advises states to follow SOPs set by federal gov’t

Malaysiakini

Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has advised the states to standardise their standard operating procedures (SOPs) with those set by the federal government.
"One state allows restaurants to open until 10pm, while another until 7pm.
"So I hope the states can just follow the SOPs set at the federal level," he said.
Ismail (below) said this when asked to comment about business premises in a certain state which requires customers to register using a mobile application.
"Several states have their own mobile applications. To simplify things, we encourage (the use of mobile applications), but it's not compulsory.
"If it's compulsory, it would have been mentioned in Act 342. But just like a face mask, it is encouraged for people to wear it," he said.
Ismail said making it compulsory to use the application is against the SOP and the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).
He said if customers do not want to download the respective application, they can write down their details in the logbook provided by the premise.
Meanwhile, there are so far no instructions from the Education Ministry to ask teachers to work, Ismail said.
"Schools are still closed. Therefore, the ministry has yet to ask teachers to return to work," he said. - Mkini
