PUTRAJAYA: Authorities have ordered 10 construction sites to close for failure to follow standard operating procedures during the movement control order (MCO), says Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said 288 sites were found to have not complied with the SOPs and were issued warnings.
"As of today, 30,000 construction workers, including foreigners in Selangor and Federal Territory, have been screened for Covid-19," he said in his daily briefing Thursday (June 4).
During the third phase of the MCO, the government approved certain economic sectors to operate, including construction, provided that all employees returning to work undergo health screening.
The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) has checked a total of 6,559 construction sites to date.
It reported that 1,211 sites were found to have complied with the SOPs.
Checks by the CIDB also found that 5,050 sites have yet to resume operation. - Star
