CORONAVIRUS | Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the Covid-19 test result document is only valid at the time of the testing and should not be used to determine the status of the individual after that.
“We (Health Ministry) do not give out any wristband or (determine whether someone is negative for Covid-19) based on letters.
“The letter is only valid during the testing. Those who have done the test, at the time they may be negative, but tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, we do not know.
“They might be exposed to the community again and we know the virus is still present in the community so they might still get infected.
“They might become positive (for Covid-19) so that letter is not useful (tak laku),” Noor Hisham (photo) said in his press conference at the Health Ministry today.
The ministry maintains a record of those they have conducted screening on, such as in a locality or a target group, he added.
“So what is important is to refer to the Health Ministry and we will have a record,” Noor Hisham said.
It was reported yesterday that the police had arrested two individuals related to a syndicate forging negative Covid-19 test results documents for foreign citizens.
Authorities said the syndicate had been operating for about a week or two from a counter at an alleyway in Jalan Alor.
They were charging RM50 for each negative test result document, the police said.
