PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has announced a new cluster of Covid-19 cases has been reported at an apartment building in Cheras.
Six residents, all Malaysians, have been tested positive for Covid-19, the director-general of health, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, said in a Twitter posting.
“The source of the infection is still under investigation,” he said.
Noor Hisham told FMT that the health ministry was still tracing the cases. He said the most recent cases were linked to the tahfiz school clusters, and the situation was still “under control”.
Six clusters of infections have been uncovered at tahfiz schools, of which four were related to a major outbreak at a mass gathering of about 15,000 people at a tabligh assembly at Sri Petaling mosque in February.
More than 7,800 people have been infected with Covid-19 so far, with 115 deaths. However, no deaths have been reported for a week. Thirty-eight new cases were reported today, of which 26 were imported cases and 12 were local transmissions. The local cases comprised six Malaysians and six foreigners. - FMT
