Reopening of schools - decision to be tabled to cabinet first

Malaysiakini

Health Ministry and Education Ministry officials today met to discuss the reopening of schools but their decision will have to be taken to the cabinet first for approval.
This was the answer from health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah when asked about the matter at his Covid-19 daily press conference this evening.
"There was a discussion. But the decision will be presented before the cabinet meeting tomorrow.
"Maybe after that, there will be an announcement. So please wait for the meeting tomorrow," he said.
Bernama yesterday reported that the two ministries would have a meeting today to fix the reopening dates for schools during the coming recovery phase of the movement control order (MCO).
Noor Hisham had previously announced that schools would initially be opened only for exam year Form Five and Form Six students.
The education sector has been closed since the government introduced the MCO on March 18, part of its measures to break the chain of Covid-19 infections.
Most other sectors of the economy have been allowed to reopen gradually as Malaysia continues to record progress in decreasing number of daily new cases.
Starting tomorrow, the country shifts to the recovery phase of the MCO which will see more restrictions being relaxed including interstate travelling. - Mkini
