The MACC has seized RM600,000 from the homes of two Bersatu Youth members.
According to a report by The Star, the money is believed to belong to the party.
MACC investigations director Norazlan Mohd Razali was quoted as saying that the two Bersatu Youth members were on June 5 questioned in relation to a report lodged by Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman over RM250,000 that went missing from his safe.
"Following questioning, officers went to the houses of the two members at two separate locations in Kuala Lumpur.
"The officers found a total of RM600,000 cash in two locations," he was quoted as saying.
The report added that the MACC also seized a car worth RM100,000 belonging to a third party member believed to have been purchased using misappropriated funds.
The Bersatu Youth faction aligned with former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad had accused the MACC of persecuting opponents of the Perikatan Nasional government.
The MACC had denied any political motivation, stating that it was merely investigating Syed Saddiq's complaint made in March.
Mahathir is engaged in a power struggle with Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin for control of Bersatu and the government. Syed Saddiq is aligned to Mahathir. - Mkini
