KOTA KINABALU: State-owned Sabah Foundation has filed a suit against former chief minister Musa Aman in a bid to recover RM872 million that went missing during the latter’s tenure as the trustee’s chairman.
The foundation’s director Jamalul Kiram Mohd Zakaria said the board of trustees believed the funds had gone missing due to timber activities of a dubious nature.
He added that the board had filed the claim to the High Court here through the e-filing system on June 16, naming several others in addition to Musa and listing monetary transactions involving a number of offshore accounts.
The board’s lawyer, Douglas Lind, said the claim also involved the 46 corruption and money laundering charges against Musa which were recently dropped.
“There are other claims as well, but it involves some of those charges, too,” he said. - FMT
