IPOH: A senior police officer and five other policemen were among 14 arrested during a raid on a wild party involving drugs here this morning.
They were arrested at 1.30am by a team of officers from the state Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department.
Perak police chief Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the senior officer, in his 30s, and the other five, of various ranks aged between 20 and 40, were with the Perak contingent police headquarters.
“A urine test found that the senior officer and four of the policemen were positive for methamphetamine and ketamine,” he said at a press conference here.
Faridalathrash said five Malaysian women and three Indonesian women, aged between 20 and 40, were also arrested during the raid. All but one tested positive for drugs.
He said police were investigating if the premises for the party were rented or owned by any of those detained.
In an unrelated case, police crippled a drug trafficking syndicate after arresting three men and seizing 22.24kg of drugs worth RM866,577 in Kamunting, Ipoh and Pangkor. Most of the drugs were methamphetamine, worth about RM700,000.
They were discovered by a fisherman in a sack floating in Pangkor waters. The drugs were found in 17 of 20 packets of “tea powder” while the other three packets were damaged by water.
Faridalathrash said the three men, aged between 26 and 40, were arrested in Ipoh and Kamunting. About 120 packets of heroin were seized during the arrests. - FMT
