KUALA LUMPUR: Three localities in Sabah and Johor will be placed under a 14-day Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from Aug 31 to Sept 13 to contain the spread of Covid-19.
National Security Council director-general Datuk Rodzi Md Saad, in a statement today said the decision was reached after reviewing the Health Ministry's risk assessment and Covid-19 trend.
The affected areas in Sabah are Kampung Bukit Gemuk, Tawau and Kampung Nasakot, Ranau. Meanwhile in Johor, the affected area is Kampung Nelayan Benut in Pontian.
Rodzi also said the same set of EMCO standard operating procedures would be applied to these areas.
He added that the EMCO in Taman Megah Jaya (Lorong 2, 3, 9 and10) scheduled to end tomorrow (Aug 30) would be extended untill Sept 13.
The EMCO in 37 localities in Sabah and Terengganu, he said, would be lifted as scheduled on Aug 30.
The affected areas in Sabah are Kampung Mantanau, Kampung Pirasan Ulu and Kampung Suang Punggur in Kota Belud.
In Terengganu: Kampung Bukit Cina in Besut; Sungai Buaya, Tanah Lot, Lembah, Padang Jambu, Nibong, Bukit Chatak Tengah, Kg Molek, Bijangga, Sungai Udang, Sungai Penaga, Kubang Miang, Teratai, Teluk Lipat, Alor Tembesu, Sura Utara, Batu 48, Sura Gate, Bukit Chatak and Tembesu Akar all located in the Kuala Dungun sub-district.
The rest are 14 localities under the Sura sub-district involving Rumah Awam Kos Rendah Gong Pasir, Kampung Gong Pasir, Taman Maidam, Batu 5, Sura Tengah, Alor Tempoyak, Taman Rakyat Jaya, Taman Delima Batu 6, Balai Besar, Sura Melati, Batu 7, Paya Balai Besar, Pak Sabah and Sura Lapangan Terbang. - NST
