KUALA LUMPUR: The government will look into moving the Klang Valley to Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The Prime Minister said that the Cabinet and the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access (JKJAV) will discuss the matter.
He said this is because 89.5% of the adult population in the Klang Valley have received their second dose of vaccine, which is more than the target rate of 80%.
"When we have a Cabinet meeting with the JKJAV, we will look in detail about transitioning into the next phase.
"Maybe several other states will move to the next phase, too," he said at a press conference at the World Trade Centre near here on Sunday (Aug 29).
However, he said besides getting vaccinated, people in Malaysia are urged to continue following the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).
The Prime Minister was at the WTC in Kuala Lumpur to witness the one millionth vaccine dose administered at the mega vaccination centre.
The vaccine recipient, Zamratulazmi Sarmadi, had his second dose personally administered by Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The 38-year-old photographer said he had a shock when he was told he would be receiving his second dose in the presence of the Prime Minister and other top government officials such as Health secretary-general Datuk Mohd Shafiq Abdullah and Science, Technology and Innovation secretary-general Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir.
"I just received a phone call to come earlier for my appointment.
"No one mentioned anything about being the recipient of the one millionth dose.
"They only told me when I arrived at Station 2 of the vaccination centre," he said.
