KOTA BARU: Kelantan's first Covid-19 Quarantine Station (QS) for the Orang Asli community will be opened tomorrow.
Galas assemblyman Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim said the QS at SK Kuala Betia is expected to receive its first Covid-19 patients from three families from Kampung Blau in the morning.
"The spike in Covid-19 cases among Orang Asli lately has caused great concern among the relevant authorities, including the state Health Department.
"Therefore in our meeting last week, we decided to set up the QS to accommodate the Orang Asli with low symptoms or those close contacts with Covid-19 patients.
"Orang Asli tested positive for Covid-19 will remain at the low-risk Treatment and Quarantine Centre (PKRC)," he told reporters after the State Assembly sitting today.
Mohd Syahbuddin said the QS can accommodate more than 300 people at a time and those who would be sent to the station are from three Orang Asli villages.
The villages are Pos Blau, Pos Bihai and Pos Hendrop.
On the implementation of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO), he said so far, eight areas were under the restriction order.
"Before this, only six Orang Asli villages in Gua Musang were placed under EMCO but recently, two more were added. - NST
