All Perak assemblypersons who attended the state legislative assembly on Monday will have to undergo self-quarantine after one of the reps tested positive for Covid-19.
Perak Health, Science, Environmental and Green Technology exco Mohd Akmal Kamarudin said the assemblyperson, who is from the government, was confirmed positive after taking a Covid-19 RT-PCR test.
He said the individual was screened for Covid-19 after experiencing symptoms such as fever on Monday night.
“The assemblyperson tested positive using PCR test, and with that result, everyone who was involved in Monday’s state assembly has been ordered to undergo self-quarantine starting today for safety.
“The instructions were also issued to the speaker, the Dewan staff and all special officers to assemblypersons who were present at the Dewan Negeri,” Akmal said, as reported by Sinar Harian today.
Perak state opposition leader Abdul Aziz Bari also verified that all the assemblypersons have been instructed to quarantine themselves, but have not received further information about the matter.
“Yes, it is true (the quarantine), as far as I know, all (the assemblypersons), but I am not sure (how long) because I do not have further information yet,” he said.
The Perak legislative assembly took place over four days starting Aug 25 and ended on Aug 30. - Mkini
