Saravanan: Whole Malaysia 'blur' over Umno's endgame

MIC deputy president wants to know what would happen if BN quit the Perikatan Nasional-led government.

He said this as BN's lead party, Umno, does not want to ally with either PN or Pakatan Harapan - making it impossible for anyone to form a government.

"BN only has 41 seats - but Umno has decided not to support Harapan or Bersatu.

"So with 41 seats, what is our direction? This is a major question that I as an elected representative have to explain to the party (MIC).

"Everybody is blur (clueless), the whole of Malaysia is blur," he said.

Saravanan, who is also the human resources minister, was speaking at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur where BN MPs led by Deputy Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob reaffirmed support for PN.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is trying to oust Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, by proving that the latter has lost majority support.

Zahid's plan, ostensibly, is to get the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to appoint an interim prime minister until elections can safely be held.

Saravanan, who is MIC's sole lawmaker, said he had no problem following Umno's lead.

However, he said such a decision must be decided by the BN supreme council.

The BN supreme council's stance at the moment is to stick with PN until the next general election.

MCA president Wee Ka Siong, who was also at the press conference, likewise said that his party will abide by BN’s decision. - Mkini
