PETALING JAYA: A PKR woman who lodged a police report against the Kedah menteri besar over the award of a billion-ringgit tourism project in Langkawi said she was contacted last night by a man claiming to be a Special Branch officer.

Sungai Siput PKR member Indrani Selvakumar said the man had wanted to meet her this morning for her to show him the documents in her possession before pursuing the matter with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today.

“He called at about 10.30pm last night, stating his name and the branch he is attached to.

“He told me to see him today at 8.30am to show him the proof (of the allegations) and said he would then decide if I should go to the MACC,” she told FMT.

However, Indrani said she decided to ignore the call and went directly to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya this morning to lodge a complaint against Kedah menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

“I have passed all the proof and documents to MACC. They said they will call me.”

She also expressed concern over the attempt by the man to get her to meet him before going to the MACC.

“He asked about my husband, and what his job was, and if he was also involved in politics,” Indrani said, adding that she told him her husband was not involved in politics.

“I was also taken aback when he asked me to give the name of the person who gave me the documents implicating Sanusi.”

According to Indrani, she received the documents on Aug 9 through snail mail with no indication of the sender.

Yesterday, she lodged a police report in Puchong, stating that a key figure in the company that was awarded the billion-ringgit tourism project was bankrupt and had been so for several years.

She said this was based on a search she carried out with the insolvency department.

She questioned Sanusi as to how a project worth over a billion ringgit was awarded to a company where a key figure was bankrupt.

The individual in question had previously been charged by the Securities Commission for market manipulation. - FMT
