PETALING JAYA: Former Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has expressed his gratitude to Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for setting aside their differences following the party’s unanimous decision to lift his six-year suspension.
Tajuddin also welcomed Zahid’s constructive criticisms and said he would work closely with the Umno leadership that is currently part of the unity government.
“As we know, Umno is facing serious challenges, especially ahead of the 16th general election,” he said in a Facebook video late last night.
“Much needs to be done to win back voter confidence and public support so that Umno is the people’s choice again.”
On Monday, the Umno Supreme Council unanimously agreed to lift Tajuddin’s six-year suspension of his membership.
Tajuddin was an Umno Supreme Council member for 15 years and the Pasir Salak Umno chief for 18 years.
He was slapped with a six-year suspension from the party after publicly criticising Zahid’s leadership.
His criticism of Zahid shortly before the 2022 general election came after his removal as a Supreme Council member in June of the same year. - FMT
