KUALA LUMPUR: Umno has lifted the six-year suspension of former Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, said party secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
Asyraf said the Umno Supreme Council unanimously agreed to lift the suspension, which means Tajuddin is an Umno member again effective immediately.
Tajuddin was an Umno Supreme Council member for 15 years and the Pasir Salak Umno chief for 18 years.
He was slapped with a six-year suspension from the party after publicly criticising Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s leadership.
His criticism of Zahid shortly before the 2022 general election came after his removal as a Supreme Council member in June of the same year.
The former Prasarana Malaysia Bhd chairman was suspended alongside former Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein, former information chief Shahril Hamdan, former Jempol MP Salim Sharif and former Tebrau division chief Maulizan Bujang.
He later appeared to have patched things up with Zahid, and appealed to be reinstated as an Umno member several times. - FMT
