
The victim has been identified as Patrick Kee Chuan Peng, 67.
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the Malaysian Consulate in Pontianak, together with the victim's family, is currently arranging for the remains to be repatriated to Malaysia.
"Yes, there was a Malaysian involved. The consulate in Pontianak, together with the family, is making arrangements to bring the victim back to Malaysia," he said when contacted.
Earlier, it was reported that a Malaysian was among eight people killed after a private helicopter crashed in dense forest on Indonesia's Borneo island.
The transport ministry said the Airbus helicopter, operated by local company Matthew Air Nusantara, lost contact with air traffic control about five minutes after taking off from West Kalimantan province on Thursday morning.
All eight on board were men and one was a Malaysian national, civil aviation director general Lukman F. Laisa said in a statement. - NST
