Exactly What Is It That Our Chinese Voters Want?

nb

By Terrence Fernandez

Borrowing the title from John Teo of the New Straits Times today that read, ‘Exactly what is it that our Chinese voters want?’, I have been asking myself the same question for quite some time already.

I don’t really get a straight cut answer from the article but I think it is meant to give us the idea that Chinese are more obsessed in wanting a corrupt-free government compared to others.

Alright, so the Chinese sees the government today as corrupt beyond repair and therefore needs to be changed.

I understand that, I would love to do the same, believe me.

Taking Selangor as an example, as suggested by the writer because it is a state that has a population make-up that looks more like the rest of the country, I would like to post a couple of questions:

If corruption-free government is so important, then;

How would that justify the Chinese support for the Pakatan Rakyat government, when only barely 2 years in power, already drowning in corruption?

How can Pakatan Rakyat be a substitute to Barisan Nasional when they too, is just as corrupt?

This reminds me of an article I read in the blog OutSyedtheBox, entitled, ‘If it’s Pakatan, it’s ok’. Pakatan can be corrupt, incapable, unprofessional and ignorance of protocols and procedures and even involves in murder, it’s ok.

One thing I would like to ask from the Chinese, that is, to be frank to us, and be true to themselves. Please, don’t be hypocrites. This debate is going nowhere if the truth is not said out loud.

Why is Pakatan okay to be corrupt and not Barisan?

The only reason I can come out with is that Pakatan is dominated by the Chinese. From any angle you look at it, you can see that DAP will always overpowered PKR and PAS. This is important to the Chinese because their ultimate goal is to abolish Bumiputera’s privileges by changing the Constitution.

Questioning the Constitution is not good for national unity, but that’s what the Chinese is doing. They don’t really care for the non-Chinese or the unity itself. It’s not the corruption that worries the Chinese, it’s their genetic selfish urge to dominate that needs to be fulfilled.

Please, do correct me if I’m wrong. And I honestly hope that I am.
