Liu 'severely reprimanded', no case on Teng's tweet

The DAP disciplinary committee has issued a "severe reprimand" to Ronnie Liu over the alleged abuse of Selangor government stationary by his former aide Tee Boon Hock.

NONEAccording to a statement by the committee, Liu was reprimanded for failing to "manage his office in accordance with public expectations".

"The disciplinary committee also requires a firm commitment from Liu that henceforth he should focus on managing his office in a professional manner," read the statement.

Liu is the Selangor state exco member in charge of the local government, study and research committee.

He is embroiled in a controversy after it was alleged that Tee had misused his letterhead and seal in issuing support letters for 20 companies seeking about RM1 million in state government contracts.

During a hearing last week, the disciplinary committee had sacked Tee after it was found that he had issued a support letter to a company linked to his son.

Since Tee had claimed that it was done with Liu's knowledge, the latter was asked to attend the hearing today to explain himself.

According to the disciplinary committee, Liu "might not" have known that the company concerned belonged to Tee's son but must still bear responsibility over the entire episode.

"This episode has damaged the party's image," said the committee.

Met by reporters after the disciplinary committee had pronounced its decision, Liu said that he humbly accepts reprimand.

"I know that the expectation of the public is high on Pakatan Rakyat and the DAP... I will do my level best to manage my office in Pandamaran in a professional manner," he said.

Teng 'cautioned'

Meanwhile, the disciplinary committee also accepted the explanation of Teng Chang Khim that a recent Twitter post was not in contempt of the committee.

NONETeng (left) had told the committee that his posting on Twitter - "OMG! The Real culprit freed" - just after the committee sacked Tee, was referring to the movie 14 Bladesthat he was watching in his car on the way to Johor.

The committee however cautioned Teng to be mindful in making public statements in the future.

The committee said that Teng should have approached them at the onset to resolve the problem.

"Had he done so we would not have to summon him before us," said committee chairperson Tan Kok Wai.

Quizzed about Teng's suggestion that party leaders should improve communications amongst themselves to avoid similar incidents in the future, Tan agreed that it would be a good move.

Both Liu and Teng are central executive committee members and powerful party leaders in Selangor.
