LAWS OF MALAYSIA MUST BE RESPECTED BY EVERY CITIZEN

The BTN officer Hamim Husain has now suddenly claimed that since it is a closed-door private function (Puteri UMNO event) he could say anything:

“He (Hamim) had lodged a report against the reporter and the news company for entering a private function, as well as misinterpreting what he had said,” claimed Arman."

"Last week Hamim, during a closed-door Puteri Umno function, referred to the Chinese and Indian communities as “Si Mata Sepet” and “Si Botol” respectively when asking Puteri Umno members to approach the non-Malays for votes."

The claim that his statement were misinterpreted could not suffice, since Hamim a senior officer of BTN is fully knowlegeable of the Sedition Act and what could be said and done. Any speech which is seditious in nature whether in public or private is an offence, so how can he claim otherwise.

The most suprising factor is Perkasa getting involved and its official, who was not even present at the Puteri Umno function could confirm his statement when Hamim made these alleged seditious remarks while openly supporting Hamim and accompanying him to the police station to lodge a police report.

Perkasa had always claimed that its fight is for "Malay rights" but now seem to divert its agenda and has even gone to opposed Malaysian laws that protect the interest of every Malaysian citizen.

"Perkasa Youth chief Arman Azha Abu Hanifah said he had accompanied BTN deputy director Hamim Husain to lodge a police report against The Malaysian Insider for “misinterpreting” the contents of his speech during a Puteri Umno function last week."

“Perkasa stands firm with Hamim. He is not wrong with what he said... it was said during a private closed-door function.

Media has to respect when it is a private function. If you report about what was said privately, you are jeopardising the country’s racial harmony,” said Arman.

"Malay rights group Perkasa has been defending the remarks made by the BTN official, claiming that the issue had been blown out of proportion. "

It would not be surprising to hear from MP Ibrahim Ali that this report has also been misinterpreted or his official had acted in his personal capacity and its not the official stand taken by Perkasa to save Perkasa from further shame.

The best alternative is for those responsible to accept responsibility and face the appropriate punishment.

Every government officer and Malaysian public must clearly understand the sensitiveness of the diverse Malaysian public and abide by them and not contravene any laws while making any statements which may upset a particular community.
