Mustapa rejects claims of BN promising projects for votes

Mustapa: PAS is making such an allegation because it has no issues to pick on.

KOTA BAHARU, Oct 17 — Kelantan Umno liaison chief Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed has refuted PAS’ claim that Umno was making promises of instant projects in Galas in order to fish for votes in the upcoming by-election.

He said the People’s Housing Project for Galas announced by Gua Musang member of parliament Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah recently had actually been approved by the federal government some time ago.

“PAS should not be making such a wild accusation that Umno has started fishing for votes by announcing instant projects without checking the facts.

“Wait for the deputy prime minister’s announcement on the housing project in Galas this Oct 24. Not all that we announce are immediate projects as some might have been planned or approved some time ago.

“PAS is making such an allegation because it has no issues to pick on. The people must be aware of this,” he said after a dialogue with over 30 factory operators in the Pengkalan Chepa Industrial Area, here, today.

On Friday while visiting Kampung Baru Gua Musang, Tengku Razaleigh who is also Galas by-election director for Barisan Nasional, said the government had considered the needs of the people in the area when it approved the RM300 million People’s Housing Project and that it was approved some time ago.

Mustapa, who is the BN by-election deputy director, said PAS leaders should not succumb to emotions when campaiging but instead, base what they say on accurate facts.

He also asked that PAS not claim that the federal government did not fulfil the promises it made during campaigning in the Manik Urai state seat by-election in July last year.

Nomination of candidates for the Galas state seat by-election has been fixed for Oct 26 and casting of votes for Nov 4. — Bernama
