Statutory Declarations are Like Weather Reports.

The thing about Statutory Declarations or SDs in BolehLand, is like the weather report. And we know if we really do trust our weatherperson’s report, don’t we? Even if it’s raining cats and dogs in Kuala Lumpur, the weather report on a live feed will say sunny and dry with expected thunderstorm in the later part of the day.

A SD is supposed to be a legal document of sorts made under oath and we know if you make an oath in the legal sense of course, you are expected at least, that’s what the law expects of you, not necessarily your conscience, to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Oaths made before God doesn’t have much value or worth a sen compared to those made before man because in the latter’s case, you can get punished if you lied under oath.

In the case of swearing before God, as opposed to using God's name to swear – anyway either of this God swearing act has no value because the next moment one will continue to live a hypocritical life, like how this Christian fails after attending church each week!

SDs in BolehLand of late, - in this Rahimi's fellos case as far back as two years when it was made, joins some other SDs as somewhat worthless in value as a matter of fact telling the truth document. These SDs are more fiction really, simplyy because this fello suddenly became aware even if it's two years later, he is an author producing fiction!

So when our Rahimi decided to now declare his previous SD - concerning a sodomy case of none other than the world’s most publicized sodomy story and best know alleged sodomiser – was signed under duress or he has been coerced into signing it, we have been told a lie for two years!

Perhaps it’s easier to publicly declare you have told a lie than living a lie because these two are not really one and the same. He may have declared he told a lie – which only he knows about it, but he may not easily be able to convince himself or others he has been living his life all these while as a lie!

If you are forced to sign an SD, does it mean you have no party to its contents, someone has written it for you? Like we read about now and then of witnesses and those under detention confessing that they have been forced to write under duress or ordered to sign without being even being the author of what was written? Remember the supposedly TBH ‘suicide’ as a classic example of how one is forced to say something against his will or conscience?

Given the funny course of what happens after SDs are made concerning high profile cases, in BolehLand, the truthfulness of a SD depends not so much on who wrote it but what the report has to say about certain or person(s).

Rahimi’s scandalous SD seems not to be about the scandal of what was reported but rather the scandal directed at the writer. He is pointed out to be scandalous in writing something which implicated the most powerful duo of BolehLand in a conspiracy against Anwar in the sodomy case.

While previous fellos writing similar SDs on similar allegations are either tagged as criminals and being hounded, in one case the one who rescinded his initial SD even before the ink dried is living like a lord in exile. While another who stuck by his SD is living in exile even having a ‘lord’ ancestry to his name does him no good!

Never mind if Rahimi’s denial is two years late but it’s never too late to correct a wrong, right? The juicy news Bolehland fellos are interested to get their hands on now would be; the kind of life our Rahimi must have experienced knowing he lied and how he was able to live that lie for two years. More interestingly would be how it come to him declaring his innocence and the innocence of those implicated in his first SD.

It baffles ordinary citizens how come this Rahimi wasn’t ‘disturbed’ or hurled up for making such lies while others are being pursued all over the world - for that matter with the full force of the law and institutions and what have you?

Even if those in authority is in jubilation that a lie has been exposed and corrected, at the back of Bolehland fellos, something Sinisterly or Smells Devilish behind this sudden refutation by Rahimi.

Does this latest alter fare change the public’s perception of the issues and circumstances surrounding this 'stinks to high heaven' sodomy case? That depends on whose side of the political divide one is aligned to.

But isn’t there some punishment for people who declare false SD? Why are some being protected and even praised as heroes when they rescind their SDs, while others punished for breaking the stature governing SDs?

So with Rahimi’s late admission, the public perceptions may certainly be casting doubt on his credibility as well as the contents of what he wrote on this second SD. But what of the public’s perception to the credibility of what he wrote in his first SD, huh?

Expect dark clouds ahead in BolehLand and to predict whether it will bring havoc or end up as 'bright happy sunshine day', is anyone’s guess too even if the weatherperson says otherwise!
