Sekinchan rep: I was assaulted by Umno members

TANJONG KARANG - Selangor's Sekinchan state assemblyman Ng Sue Lim claimed he was assaulted this morning by a group of men he believed were UMNO Youth members in Kampung Kunci Air Buang.

“My head was stomped and still hurting, my hand is injured, a little injury at the wrist, and I was also kicked in the stomach by UMNO Youth,” news portal Selangorkini quoted Ng as saying.

According to Ng, prior to the incident, his office received several complaints from farmers from the peripheries of Tanjong Karang yesterday over the low prices of paddy crops at RM1,150 per tonne, saying the discount of 20 percent was too high for wet cultivating.

“Their income is affected and their life is burdened...they wanted me to listen to their problems and organise a dialogue at the farm located at the border of Kunci Air Buang.

Ng said when news about the meeting spread, the police came alongside UMNO Youth members and what he described were "gangsters".

"When I reached at 11.40, as I got out from my car to shake hands about three to four people, I was quickly surrounded by UMNO Youth who demanded me to return citing that this was their territory,” he explained.

Ng said he had lodged a report at the Kuala Selangor police headquarters.

Ng, who not long ago exposed former Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamad Khir Toyo's palatial house worth some RM24 million, said he was only trying to hear the farmers' grouses so that the matter can be brought to the state assembly on Monday.

“They fear that the plight of the farmers at the hands of the Agriculture minister will be exposed to the public," said Ng, and reminded that the minister Noh Omar was also the Tanjong Karang member of parliament.- Harakahdaily
