Merlimau state assemblyman Datuk Mohd Hidhir Abu Hasan is recovering at the Putra Specialist Hospital here after undergoing surgery to clear a blocked artery.
Mohd Hidhir, who is also state Rural Development and Agriculture Committee chairman, had admitted himself at the hospital around 1pm on Thursday after experiencing stomach discomfort for several days upon his return from Taiwan on Monday.
"I initially sought treatment for stomach discomfort but decided to get tested again after it did not go away despite medication.
"Further tests on Thursday by doctors revealed I had a blocked artery," he said when met at the hospital here Friday.
He added doctors decided to clear the blockage by inserting a stent later that evening.
A jovial and chatty Hidhir said he was likely to remain under observation at the hospital's cardiac care unit before transfered to the normal ward Saturday.
He dispelled rumours that he had suffered a heart attack and was in serious condition at the hospital's intensive care unit.
