Pajudin’s first meeting disrupted

Despite a new chief, Sabah PKR is still very much in limbo.

KOTA KINABALU: New Sabah PKR head, Pajudin Nordin, 42, may be facing a tough road ahead if attendance at his first state liaison meeting yesterday is any indication.

Only six of the 25 divisional chiefs turned up at the meeting which began with a heated, albiet unrelated, argument between Tenom chief Halik Zaman and his “own division member” Adris Taripin.

Halik was incensed that Adris had accused him of cheating en route to his post in the predominantly Murut area.

The brouhaha disrupted meeting which was to discuss filling up the appointed state party posts like secretary and treasurer.

Instead, the meeting turned out to be a “getting to know each other” event.

Former PKR leader Daniel John Jambun was quick to mock the meeting as a waste of time as “they all already know each other well”.

“There was no need for such re-introductions,” he said.

Move to oust Pajudin?

Meanwhile, it is learnt that PKR leader, Kalakau Untol, has flown to Kuala Lumpur to meet PKR top leaders over the deteriorating situation in Sabah PKR.

According to reliable sources, Kalakau, armed with signatures from 17 divisional chiefs, hoped to intervene in time to stem a potential mass exodus from PKR.

However, party sources said, they were pessimistic that the former Senator would be able to convince de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim and president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to step in and iron out differences.

It was not clear who the 17 want in place of Pajudin but sources named veteran lawyer James Ghani of Papar as a compromise candidate.
