Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has promised to solve the leadership crisis that has beset Perlis Umno, said former Perlis menteri besar Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.
Shahidan, who is also an Umno supreme council member, said this was told to him by Najib himself when he had a meeting with the latter to state his stand on the matter a few days ago.
He said he (Shahidan) stood firm that he could not work with Perlis Umno chief Datuk Seri Dr Md Isa Sabu despite having been appointed the latter's deputy.
"My appointment as Md Isa's deputy is not the issue. My concern is that the leadership crisis in Perlis Umno has dragged on since the 2008 general election and has yet to be resolved," he told reporters here Sunday.
Earlier, he had attended an aid presentation function at the Civic Centre here where 50 families who were victims of a fire were presented aid by Galas assembylman Ab Aziz Yusoff.
Md Isa is also the current menteri besar of Perlis.
