KUALA LUMPUR: The mysterious Datuk T, who is behind the unveiling of a sex video clip that purportedly involves Anwar Ibrahim, has changed his mind about handing over the recording to the opposition leader and the police.
He has now called for the immediate setting up of an independent public commission comprising the press and NGOs to investigate the authenticity of the clip.
“I will hand over the original recording to the commission and it can engage forensic experts from whichever country to verify its authenticity,” he said in an e-mail sent to the media. “I will also hand over the Omega watch found in the room where Anwar was with a foreign prostitute.”
“The commission can send the watch to forensic experts to find if DNA found on the watch matches Anwar’s. Let the public and the world be the judges.”
Anwar yesterday denied his involvement in the clip and has accused the government of engaging in a conspiracy to smear his name.
This morning he lodged a police report at the Dang Wangi station accompanied by his wife and PKR president, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, as well as several PKR leaders.
Datuk T had earlier said that he would hand over a copy of the clip to Anwar and Wan Azizah next Monday to identify the man caught on camera.
However, he noted that judging from Anwar’s latest actions it is presumed that both he and Wan Aziza are not interested in receiving the copy.
“I’m not going to hand over this recording to the police either as Anwar would only divert attention, claiming that the police are in cahoots with the government if the outcome of the investigation did not favour him,” he added. - FMT
