Did PAS’ Nasaruddin watch the video?

Will Najib grab this 'window of an opportunity' to prove the identity of the actor in the hot selling smut video allegedly featuring nemesis Anwar Ibrahim?

COMMENT

In this latest issue surrounding the smut video, the motives, the identity of the people behind the video are no longer important.

I can philosophise about the morality issues, patriotism and so forth – but the most important question remains – who is that male participant?

Why is it important? For Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, it is important because by proving it’s not him, his morality remains pristine.

Then he can wallop Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak to kingdom come. Doesn’t he want that?

To Barisan Nasional and Umno, it’s important for them to prove it was Anwar to destroy the pious myth that has been built on the character of Anwar.

The most important issue is to establish whether the person bonking the China doll is Anwar or not.

Isn’t Anwar interested to disprove the identity so that he can proclaim to the world, that it isn’t him? Wouldn’t his success in proving that it’s not him allow him to justifiably crucify Najib and his gang?

Wouldn’t his success open up the road to Putrajaya wider? So why the reluctance to have the video examined and authenticated?

Fed up

I am also tired of brickbats from Anwar’s supporters. It’s futile in trying to give a balanced view. So be it.

I have no trouble telling what I gather about Anwar as it is. When I try to give a balanced view about Anwar, they are not tolerant enough.

When I start to be critical, they will start accusing me of inherent hatred of Anwar.

It’s never a question of like or hate – it’s always a question of telling it as it is.

I don’t hate former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad – but that doesn’t stop me writing uncomplimentary things about him.

So when I write of Anwar and place him in a bad light, its not prompted by hatred. It’s giving out my opinions.

Why should I hate him? I don’t know Anwar and can only evaluate him from his speeches, writings and actions.

Of course I know OF him and can evaluate him from his friends right from MCKK (Malay College Kuala Kangsar) days.

Amateurish ideas

His supporters are entitled to see him as the messiah of democracy and a new dawn. They are free to propagate their beliefs.

Many others and I don’t share in this exaltation of Anwar. He has good ideas and he has amateurish ideas too.

If Anwar wants to make a police report, that is his business. He made a police report on the first sodomy case, it got him into deep trouble.

He doesn’t believe the police will do an honest job, so why must he make a report?.

He can make a report urging the police to arrest some people for peddling pornographic material. We agree with him.

But that will also lead, people and police to ask of why Anwar is urging the police to arrest the people behind the video?

Is he related to the content of the video? He said he is not the actor in the video. What is his standing?

Najib’s opportunity

In which case he won’t have any objections then to have the video uploaded onto the net as a YouTube item so that it can be watched by millions and millions!

Najib has a window of opportunity to prove the identity of the actor in the smut video.

Call in the best experts from FBI or Scotland Yard. Ask them to verify the authenticity of the video and identify exactly the identity of the male actor.

Get the best technicians so that if Anwar counters by bringing his own team of expert witnessed, they can be defeated. Then simply post it on YouTube.

I have reliable reports that one of the five who viewed the video at Shangri-la was PAS secretary general Nasaruddin Mat Isa.

As a god fearing individual, he hasn’t said anything to the public. It would be interesting to ask his story.

The writer is a former Umno state rep and a columnist with FMT.
