KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 — A state PKR leader and a woman were separately charged at the Sessions Court here today with receiving a RM50,000 bribe to help secure a Kelantan state award carrying the title “Datuk” for a man.
Kelantan PKR Rantau Panjang division leader Datuk Mohammad Agos Mohd Noor was charged under Section 28(1)(c) of the MACC Act 2009 and Nor Azimah Jamaludin was charged under Section 16(a)(A) of the same act.
Both pleaded not guilty.
If convicted, they each face imprisonment of not more than 20 years and a fine not less than five times the amount of the bribe or RM10,000, whichever is higher.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) charged the duo with receiving the RM50,000 bribe from a man to get him the Dato’ D’Raja award from Persatuan Kerabat D’Raja DYMM Long Yunus in Kelantan.
