KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 — Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan has been given a one-year extension to his contract, from June 24, 2011 until June 23, 2012.
The reappointment of Mohd Sidek, 59, has received the consent of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin.
“His services as the Chief Secretary to the Government are still needed especially in enhancing the delivery system of the Malaysian Civil Service and ensuring that the initiatives launched by the Government to turn Malaysia into a developed nation are effectively implemented,” Bernama quoted a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office today as saying.
Mohd Sidek (picture) was appointed Chief Secretary on September 3, 2006 until June 23, 2007 when he reached mandatory retirement at the age of 56 then.
Subsequently, he was reappointed on a contract basis for two years from June 24, 2007 until June 23, 2009.
His services were then extended for another year from June 24, 2009 to June 23, 2010 and again from June 24, 2010 to June 23, 2011.
