Labuan MP rubbishes a DAP 'ghost story'

LABUAN - Labuan Member of Parliament Datuk Yussof Mahal has rubbished a DAP 'ghost story'.

He has chided the opposition party for making a baseless allegation that the Labuan electoral roll contained phantom and 'dead' voters.

He said the opposition should come forward with concrete evidence and lodge a police report immediately, instead of politicising the issue.

"Labuan is one of the parliamentary constituencies with a clean electoral roll. There is no element of phantom or dead voters.

"I, personally, would like to accompany the DAP leaders to lodge a police report (over the allegation of phantom and dead voters)," Yussof told Bernama here today.

He said the Election Commission knew best and could verify the truth and resolve the matter.

On Aug 12, Labuan DAP chief Lau Seng Kiat alleged that names of more than 100 people, aged over 100, and others in their 70s, 80s and 90s, appeared in the latest Labuan electoral roll.

He claimed to have received a list of the names from Sabah DAP chief Dr Hiew King Cheu while the latter was conducting a polling agent seminar in Labuan recently.
