From 'clone voters' to 'clone Umno members'
Ghkok: So, there are clones in the EC (Election Commission) database, the NRD (National Registration Department) database, and the Umno database. It is reasonable to imagine that the staff of EC and NRD have no reason to introduce clones into their database.
Think about it - why would they want to incur work to key in these clones and file all the documentation as well as produce the identity cards? Unless, of course, if they were "instructed" to perform the task.
Who "instructed" them? How long have they been doing this? Out of the three bodies - EC, NRD, Umno - which body have the most to gain from the introduction of clones? Which one will gain power from this exercise?
Enough is enough. The rakyat of Malaysia call for a royal commission of inquiry.
Kgen: BN has been cheating all along to win elections. The EC is just a tool of Umno just like the NRD and ROS (Registrar of Societies).
The biometric system won't stop such clone voters from voting multiple times but indelible ink will. No wonder, the EC wants to go for the expensive and impractical biometric system instead of the cheaper, more effective indelible ink.
SusahKes: With all this evidence, how could the EC still deny that there is no voter manipulation involved?
Malaysian_f06: "EC chairperson Abdul Aziz Yusof has asserted that the issue of double identity is a result of human error when the MyKad numbers were keyed into the system."
I don't know how much ICT experience Abdul Aziz has, but even a year one university student would be laughing his/her head off at this excuse.
In any case, if these are genuine and unintentional mistakes, why do they only happen to Umno members?
Anonymous_3e8f: Everything is done deliberately. The same Umno member holding multiple MyKads and having multiple voter registrations will vote at two or three different polling stations.
I just wonder how many more of such cases. Please EC chairman, just quit. But before that, disband the entire EC team. Let all be taught a lesson not to cheat for Umno or for anybody. This is just disgusting.
By Election Fan: The answer is technical error again, what else can you expect?
DannyLoHH: This exposure should put the legal status of Umno Baru in serious doubt. Now, disgruntled Umno members could file police reports and law suits to declare the party previous election illegal.
The party itself should be in danger of being outlawed now. Provided of course, if our court is neutral and the ROS is independent. Funny how things unfold, the very person that declared Bersih illegal, is hailed from an illegal political party.
Yohannes: "Malaysiakini has not been able to verify their voting status because the EC online verification system has not been functioning this morning."
Very interesting timing for the EC online verification system to stop working. I wonder if when it starts working again, all the clones will be scrubbed from the system?
Hisham: Biometric tampering 'only on small scale'
Malaysians Are Not Stupid: Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein is so busy politicking that I don't believe he knows what's happening. One day after he announced that the registration exercise of illegal foreign workers will be postponed indefinitely because he wants to make sure everything are in place, the director-general announced the very next day the exercise will go ahead.
Now his ministry's senior deputy secretary-general Alwi Ibrahim issued a statement stating that 600 biometric scanners have been modified, he said no. I trust the senior deputy DG because he is on the ground and knows what's happening whereas Hishammuddin is probably busy plotting to overthrow his cousin, Najib Razak.
Mamakputra's Stooge: If government is aware that the biometric equipment are being tampered and 'citizens' are created, why isn't the full extend of the law, including EO (Emergency Ordinance) being thrown at these culprits?
Vijay47: "If this volume (of migrant workers) is not managed, it will affect the country and our future," said Hishammuddin.
Spoken like a true patriot - these passionate words should be put up on signboards at all immigration points throughout the country to further bolster "the spirit of the officers working to carry out their responsibilities".
Hishammuddin captures the inspiring attributes of a minister truly dedicated to the well-being of the nation, vigilant towards protecting it from the threat of illegals and others who do not appreciate the government's many noble efforts.
I am confident that Hishammuddin will next initiate a royal commission to solve the mystery of the astronomical surge in the number of new citizens in Sabah, Sarawak and many parts of West Malaysia.
As we all know, issues like the tampering of biometric equipment and the disappearance of Altantuya Shaariibuu's records are merely false accusations spread by the opposition who are jealous of the Home Ministry's sterling performance.
Anonymous_417c: I was told that the biometric done does not read fingerprints, instead a code is given and that's all it reads. Can't make sense of it though.
Also, the DPM is said to be in cahoots with the home minister to collect money for the GE by this exercise. True or not, I can make sense of the second allegation.
Voice: This means the biometric system is not full proof on reliability and effectiveness. How then a non-effective and reliable system be to used to solve the phantom votes problem?
Hopium: Introducing the biometric system for illegal immigrants/workers at a time where the EC wants to have it used for general election - is this a coincidence or a strategic plan?
If India with more than a billion population can use indelible ink, what's the problem with using it here with our peanut size population? A 5ml marker pen is expected to mark 600 people and the mark could last for days to weeks.
So, if EC is sincere (which we all know, it is not), why make things more complicated? Perhaps the people of Malaysia should take out a class action against EC for electoral irregularities to put EC in the right place.
Luang: I'm speechless... and full of anger, but let God be the judge. - Malaysiakini
