KUALA LUMPUR: Minister in the Prime Minister Nazri Aziz said today the proposed Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) on electoral reforms will have its framework based on the demands made by poll watchdog Bersih 2.0.
Although not mentioning Bersih’s name, Nazri said the Election Commission (EC) will prepare the content of the memorandum that will include all eight demands made by Bersih and is expected to be presented to the Cabinet on Sept 7.
“We don’t want them to accuse this (PSC) of window-dressing,” he told a press conference.
After the Cabinet has endorsed the memorandum, it will be presented to the Parliamentary Rights and Privileges Committee for approval, Nazri said.
He added that he expects a motion to set up the PSC to be tabled in Parliament by Oct 3.
