Not content with heaping lurid accusations against the 16-year-old son of Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, Umno has fired another slavo at Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim.
To lure the crowds to its ceramah (political lecture), Umno whipped out a sex video it alleges shows a man Anwar having sex with aprostitute and screened before a dinner audience consisting of some 2,000 civil servants - who form the backbone of Umno's voter support.
So engrained is pornography in the Umno party culture, that leaders such as information chief Ahmad Maslan thought nothing of showing snippets of a couple groping and preparing for sex on a big screen during Premier Information Programme held in the Jubilee Hall in Perak on Saturday.
"They are completely shameless," PKR Perak information chief Zulkifly Ibrahim told Malaysia Chronicle.
Police act against Umno?
Zulkifly has lodged a police report on the matter as the "uncivilized organisers" would have broken the law by publicly screening pornographic material. However, no one really expects the police to take action against Umno, which is Prime Minister Najib Razak's party.
Also in attendance at the event held on Sunday were Perak Metri Besar Zambry Kadir, Umno vice-president Shafie Apdal and Finance Minister II Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah.
Ahmad Maslan has since denied the video was screened but admitted in the next breath that clips previously shown on the government-controlled TV1 and TV3 channels were flashed during the dinner. He did not explain why that was done or see that there was anything odd about showing the snippets before such a large audience.
"It was only what had been aired by TV1 and TV3 prior to this, and also pictures that had made their way into Utusan (Malaysia) and other newspapers. I am not stupid to do this," Ahmad was reported as saying.
He was immediately slammed for his facetious remarks.
"He may not be stupid but his is totally unethical to pull such a stunt," PAS MP for Bukit Gantang Nizar Jamaluddin told Malaysia Chronicle.
Sex blitz
In what appears to a co-ordinated sex blitz against the Pakatan Rakyat leaders, Penang Umno leaders whipped up a smear campaign against Guan Eng over the weekend, accusing his son of having molested a schoolmate and as such had to be transferred out of his school to a new one.
Guan Eng has since issued a statement denying such an incident. He also flayed Umno leaders for such "barbaric" and "cruel" behaviour towards his son.
All eyes are now of PAS deputy president Mat Sabu. Umno bloggers are expected to revive their phone-sex andkhalwat (close proximity) accusations against him soon, as part of their bid to tarnsh the Pakatan's top leaders ahead of the 13th general election, widely expected to be held early next year.
"It looks like Najib and Umno are going on a sex tour around the nation before GE-13. This is the grand preparation that they have been talking about and this is what they are offering to Malaysians. Nothing solid for our future, just sex and pornography," PKR vice president Tian Chua told Malaysia Chronicle.
