KUALA LUMPUR - International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) law lecturer Prof Dr Abdul Aziz Bari gave his statement at the Gombak district police headquarters on Sunday on the bullet and threatening note sent him.
He received a 9mm calibre bullet at 11.45am byb post on Saturday with a note that read "Jangan kurang ajar dengan Sultan, maut nanti".
"I lodged a report yesterday (Saturday) at the Taiping police station and today I came here to give a statement. Police have taken the bullet for investigation," he told reporters.
Aziz said threats would not stop him from working as usual and believed that it was the work of those unhappy with his comments on the decree by the Sultan of Selangor on the Selangor Islamic Religious Department's (Jais) action against the Damansara Utama Methodist Church.
Aziz's statement disputing the Sultan's decree was objected to by some parties, including former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who described his refusal to apologise as being insolent.
Gombak district police chief ACP Abdul Rahim Abdullah confirmed receiving a police report from Aziz.
He added that the case was being investigated under Section 507 of Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
