Sabah BN leaders advised against making extreme demands

TUARAN - Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman (pic) advised state Barisan Nasional (BN) component party leaders not to make extreme demands for seats to be contested by their party for the coming election.

The Sabah BN chairman also said that the matter will be discussed at a later and more appropriate date.

"This is not our first election. When the election is announced, we can sit down and discuss this...it's usually easily resolved.

"Right now there's no need to aggravate the situation by arguing. The Sabah BN is in a good position so let's not spoil friendly ties for the sake of seats," he told reporters after launching the Petronas Sentuhan Harapan (Touch of Hope) programme at the Berungis Petronas Service Centre, near here Thursday.

Musa said this regarding the demands of several state BN leaders, including the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), for Gerakan to focus on winning seats for BN in the peninsular instead of putting up candidates in Sabah.

Therefore, he urged the Sabah BN, especially the elected representatives, to redouble their efforts for the welfare of the community.

"Don't worry too much about who gets more seats. What's important is for us to find out the people's problem and help them, only then will we always be in their hearts," he said.

He said he believed that with this approach in line with the 1Malaysia concept, the BN government will obtain a big victory like that of the last general election.
