Former exco Hasan Ali has allegedly wasted hundreds of thousands while he was in office in particular to renovate his office, Bukit Antarabangsa PKR rep Azmin Ali told the Selangor assembly today.
Debating the royal address, Azmin (right) said the sacked Selangor exco for Islamic affairs, Malay customs, infrastructure and public amenities had allegedly spent RM300,000 for his office renovations.
“He also spent RM550,000 to organise a conference with the Selangor Malay Customs and Heritages Body. The money could have been better channelled to rakyat,” he said.
Azmin, who is the PKR deputy president, also lambasted Hasan for allegedly bypassing the state’s open tender policy for road maintenance sub-contracts.

Hasan Ali wasted hundreds of thousands in office - Azmin
SHAH ALAM - The State Assembly Meeting was told that former Selangor Exco Datuk Dr Hasan Ali wasted hundreds of thousands of ringgit while he was in office.
Azmin Ali (PKR-Bukit Antarabangsa) said that, Hasan, who held the Islamic affairs, Malay customs, infrastructure and public amenities until his sacking in January, once spent RM300,000 for his office renovations.
"He also spent RM550,000 when the Selangor Malay Customs and Heritage Corporation (Padat) organised a conference. The money could have been better channelled to rakyat," he said.
Hasan was then chairperson of the state body.
Azmin also accused Hasan of bypassing the state's open tender policy for road maintenance sub-contracts.
He said Hasan gave names of 83 subcontractors straight to the Selangor Public Works Department (JKR) to maintain the roadworks in the state.
The contract was under KPS - HCM Sdn Bhd when awarded by the previous administration, Azmin said it was worth RM35 million a year.
"When Pakatan took over in 2008, MB Khalid Ibrahim already made it clear that the consortium must stop appointing sub-contractors directly. However, Hasan ignored the order and directly submitted 83 names to JKR Selangor. I have documentary evidence to prove my words. Now that he has been expelled, he is chanting about Islam everywhere. But what kind of Islamic value has he been upholding all this while?" asked Azmin.
Sulaiman Abdul Razak (BN-Permatang) then stood up and asked why Azmin had failed to expose Hasan while he was still in the state administration.
Azmin said that he had only received the evidence recently and had requested the PAS leadership to look into the matter before Hasan was axed from the party.
Hasan was sacked by Pas on Jan 8 on the grounds that his actions had violated the party's constitution and worked against the party's interests.
On Jan 13, Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim announced that the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has consented to withdraw Hasan's appointment as state executive councillor for Islamic Affairs, Infrastructure and Public Amenities.
