Rafizi quits his Selangor gov't post

PKR's director of strategy Rafizi Ramli today tendered his resignation from his Selangor government post, citing he needed to rest.

Announcing this on micro-blogging site Twitter, Rafizi said his decision to quit as chief executive officer at the Selangor economic adviser's office "has no political dimension to it".

"All inquiries after this should be directed to the state or (Selangor economic adviser) Anwar Ibrahim...

"Resignations are normal. I need some rest. It was taxing doing Selangor government work and party work. Ramadan is also near, (I want to) focus on worship," Rafizi said.

NONEHe added that he had initially planned to stay in the position for only two years, and that it now is "time to move on".

However, the timing of Rafizi's departure has made tongues wag.

Already, those claiming to be PKR members who are waging an open war against the Selangor menteri besar's political secretary Faekah Husin are suggesting that it has something to do with the rift.

The Twitter account @PecatFaekah, operated by those who are aligned with Selangor PKR chief Azmin Ali, even suggested that the resignation could be due to a clash between Rafizi and Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim.

"Did Rafizi quit because he differed with Khalid on economic matters?" asks a positing on the account, which has been used to cuttingly criticise the Selangor MB's officers.
'Nothing to do with Faekah'

Sources in the state government also claim that disagreement between Khalid and Rafizi has something to do with the free education pilot project.

NONELaughing this off, Rafizi insisted that his resignation has "nothing to do with Faekah (right) or the state".

"I have wanted to move on for a while already, and now that the election (has not been called), I can make my next career move," he told Malaysiakini.
He added that he had expressed his intention to move on “for a while” but the state had wanted him to stay “until near the elections”.

While reportedly disassociating himself from the anti-Faekah movement earlier this week, Azmin had piqued interest before this when he re-tweeted a call for the political secretary's sacking - move he said was an "accident".

Azmin had also earlier revealed that the party had received many informal complaints against Faekah from party members and civil servants alike, and that he advised them to adduce evidence before action could be taken.

Faekah maintains that she has not received any show-cause letters from the state and that the MB, who has stuck by his political secretary, has instructed her to ignore the campaign to oust her.
