RM3bil allegations: I will co-operate if there's evidence - Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR - Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he was prepared to cooperate with authorities on allegations that he had accounts amounting to RM3 billion.
"I will cooperate, no problems if there's other evidence. We can have our differences in politics but it's not necessary to go on making accusations," he said during the Supplementary Supply (2012) Bill 2012 debate at the Dewan Rakyat today.
Anwar (PKR-Permatang Pauh) said an open investigation should be conducted on the allegations, with checks on accounts belonging to him and his family.
He was responding to recently reported allegations by former Bank Negara Malaysia assistant governor Datuk Abdul Murad Khalid that in the 1990s he had exposed the matter of Anwar having control over 20 master accounts involving assets, shares and cash valued in excess of RM3 billion.
Anwar added that he had fully cooperated in the investigation carried out by the Anti-Corruption Agency at the time, who met him at the Sungai Buloh prison.
