KUALA TERENGGANU, Aug 10 — The DAP is trying to camouflage PAS’s true intention of setting up an Islamic state by claiming that its Pakatan Rakyat partner is merely trying to establish a welfare state, said MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
“If PAS really wants to create a welfare state, then why does its spiritual leader Datuk Seri Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat keep insisting on the Islamic state agenda?
“It shows that DAP and PAS have differing views... it looks like they cannot reconcile on this matter,” Liow (picture)told reporters after opening the Terengganu MCA annual general meeting here today.
“Pakatan is all about power grabbing and they are not focused on running a good government or implementing good policies,” he said.
“Only the Barisan formula can ensure we are able to transform in an orderly manner... some people call for change but fail to ensure stability and peace during the process,” he said.
On a separate note, he said the MCA would emerge in the 13th general election due to its dedication and determination to serve the people.
“Our party has had its ups and downs the past few years but mark my words, we’ll be back (at the next general election),” he said.
He added that the MCA party machinery nationwide, especially in Terengganu, has been working hard.
“We do not only offer good services for the people but we’re also listening to them and delivering results,” he said. — Bernama
