PUTRAJAYA, Aug 20 — A majority of Malaysians openly accept and support the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the 1 Malaysia concept, said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk S.K. Devamany.
More importantly, Devamany (picture)said, the youth, who are the biggest demographic group in determining the direction and future of the country, are so very confident with Najib’s leadership style, capability, performance and vision, which is seen as being more open as well as having integrity.
“The Hari Raya open house hosted by the prime minister and members of the Cabinet is proof of the people’s support for Najib’s leadership. We (Cabinet ministers) are also happy with the large presence of Chinese and Indians at this open house.
“Various sections of the community, not just from the Klang Valley but also Negri Sembilan, Malacca, Perak, Pahang and Johor, took the initiative to come with their families and wish the prime minister, while expressing their support.
“More than 100,000 came. I had the opportunity to chat with the youth who came yesterday and all expressed confidence in Najib’s leadership and the transformation efforts being undertaken.
“They also praised Najib as the ‘Father of 1 Malaysia’ and ‘Father of the Country’s Transformation’,” Devamany, who is also a MIC vice-president, told Bernama.
He said the youth also praised Najib’s attitude and willingness to give an ear to views and ideas as well the reprimand the people, to overcome existing weaknesses, and in the process make Malaysia a progressive and competitive nation.
“It is clear that through Najib’s leadership, which began on April 3, 2009, the people have witnessed much changes and transformation.
“Most of the youth also said Najib was their role model. They said he was an easily approachable prime minister, whether via Facebook, Twitter, his blog or personally to discuss matters,” he added. — Bernama
