PAS Murshidul Am Tuan Guru Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat said despite the tit-for-tat between the Islamic party and DAP's Karpal Singh over hudud, the cooperation between the two parties has not been affected.
“The question of breaking-up does not arise because now we are not facing any problem. The issue is sensationalised to create confusion,” he said.
Nik Aziz stressed that for Muslims, hudud formed part of the Islamic faith.
“This issue is not subject to discussion because it is laws of the religion, not an ideology. If it is man-made, we can reject, but as Muslims, if we reject religion we will be answerable in the hereafter,” he added.
On the argument by Karpal that hudud would not ensure justice, Nik Aziz said the Islamic penal code was better than the current man-made laws.
“The punishment could serve as a lesson to society. Islamic law is fair. When you commit crimes, you will receive an equivalent punishment,” he explained.
