Pakatan fears BN’s N-Day theme, says Mukhriz

JITRA, Aug 11 — Pakatan Rakyat state governments dare not use the Merdeka Day theme “55 Tahun Merdeka, Janji Ditepati” as many of their pledges to the people have not been fulfilled, said Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir.

Kedah Umno deputy liaison chairman Mukhriz said many pledges made by Pakatan Rakyat manifestos were not fulfilled since the 2008 general election.

“Maybe that’s why they are scared to use the theme,” he told reporters after presenting Aidilfitri gifts to Federal Village Development and Security (JKKKP) chairmen and secretaries at Dewan Kodiang, near here yesterday.

The Kedah, Penang, Selangor and Kelantan governments had refused to use the theme “55 Tahun Merdeka, Janji Ditepati” selected by the federal government.

Mukhriz said the Barisan Nasional (BN) federal government chose the theme to prove that all their pledges have been fulfilled after 55 years of independence. — Bernama
