PKR: What about our police reports?
PKR has accused the police of double standards in handling complaints against its members and of being slow to act on complaints lodged by them.
This comes after two of its supporters - T Yogeswaran and S Pandiyan - were charged with threatening a speaker at a pro-BN event on June 30.
Yogeswaran and Pandiyan had allegedly told off speaker Kalai Vanar, PKR's former candidate in the Gurun state seat in 2008, for using strong language in his speech.
Following this, Kalai lodged a police report against the duo and they were charged in a magistrate's court in Klang, with criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
In a press statement today, PKR said it was inappropriate that the police had acted very swiftly on this complaint, but appeared to be dragging their feet on similar police reports filed by PKR.
Among cases listed by the party are:
1. The attack on the students occupation of Dataran Merdeka. [VIDEO]
2. The stoning of Pakatan Rakyat supporters (picture above) during a ceramah in the Lembah Pantai constituency. [VIDEO]
3. An assault on PKR members at Putrajaya.
4. The attack during a Asalkan Bukan Umno ceramah in Klang. [VIDEO]
5. An attack on PKR members outside the MIC headquarters[VIDEO]
In view of the long-outstanding list of unresolved complaints by PKR members, the party urged the police to be professional and to take appropriate action.
