TAMAN PASIR PUTIH SEWERAGE WOE

THE EXISTING sewerage pumping system trough out Sabah are very much "Back Dated". Only a hand full is functioning and the rest had expired. How can this be happening? As time goes by there are many latest technology in regards to sewerage pumping system. In Kota Kinabalu for example, the sewerage pumping system are not sufficient to cater for the large housing areas. This explains why these sewerage water pumps breaks down so often.

Andrew Lee, Special Assistant to Kota Kinabalu MP attended to a complaint from a frustrated resident here from Tmn Pasir Putih Petagas. The complainant is very upset over this matter as the sewerage problem had going on since 2001.
The resident who could not stand it any longer especially when it rains, the residents toilets cannot be use due to flooding coursed by the dysfunctional sewerage water pump. It has been flooding so often that these residents can't even use their own toilets. The residents made numerous complaints to the Penampang Council back then.

It was not very encouraging and there weren't anyone responding to the matter mentioned. Since 2010, the residents of Tmn Pasir Putih thought that their sewerage problems are over with the new Majlis Daerah Putatan being established.

However, their problems are far from over, claimed the residents of the Taman. It got worse and there was no proper management at all. It has been at least two years now since the Putatan Council had been established and should have a proper work force to look into this matter.

The complainant was made to understand by the enforcement officers and the councilors that Majlis Daerah Putatan has no budget. (Tidak ada peruntukan).

This is unacceptable to the public’s ears. This is none of the residents concern. The residents are all tax payers and at the same time pay assessment fees every month. There should not be such excuses. Where did all the money go to? There are over 2000 registered units of houses and apartment in Putatan and Petagas. The council collects a minimum of RM200,000 a month excluding compounds and others.

It is about time that Majlis Daerah Putatan provides better service and facilities to the residents under the jurisdiction of Putatan Council. Sabah DAP urges the relevant department to ensure that all sewerage pumping system in Putatan and Petagas are functional and at the same time to replace broken down pumps. The council is urged to engage a qualified contractor to undertake the job of ensuring the sewerage water pump functions 24/7 even if it has to be control manually.

Sabah DAP urges the Elected Representative, District Officer, Councilors, Enforcement Officers and Minister concern to "Turun Padang" and solve problems facing by the "Rakyat". - Sabahkini
